Sunday morning saw another game, although a quick one. We played box sets since this would be Levi's first outing. Needless to say, Levi is one of those crews that don't play well straight out of the box. Hopefully we'll give him another go with a 2nd Hallow Waif and Canine Remains...
I only took a couple of shots and the game ended at the first activation of turn 3. I flipped a 2 he got the Black Joker. He soulstones and get an Ace...only Kevin. Raspy goes and blows the Outcasts off the board with a blast of winter chill.

Lots o bricks
Today's hobby project is building levels to add more height and blocking terrain to my standard board.
I also built a well
and a bridge...
I'll try to get them painted up tomorrow so they will be ready for the table sunday...
I made two 12 x 12 platforms 2" high which I can place buildings or other terrain on.

Viktoria's Secret
I think this will be more of a photo blog than a battle report for a couple of reasons...
1. I took a number of pictures.
2. I didn't take any notes.
3. I started drinking meade before I sat down to post.
Collette vs. Viktorias 30ss Shared Treasure Hunt in the Slums with Cache of Tomes
The Viktorias got First Blood. The Showgirls got Holdout with the Treasure. Collette performed Disappearing Act 3 times but no one was replaced with a Mannequin. The Cache of Tomes were use a lot by the mercs with some nice buffs. We're going to continue on with the predetermined strategies and special rules so we can try out more combinations. Someday I'll get more consistent with write ups... I imagine using a form to track turns, initiative, kills, highlights and whatnot would be helpful but I just want to play games. Hopefully the pics speak for themselves...

The bar is on fire
I know I dropped the ball on blogging since I made this thing in 2011...but its the trend in our group to write up battle reports at the moment...and maybe it will improve my game somehow somewhere down the line...
Kevin and I had a quick game Sunday morning...30 soul stones. I wanted to create a scenario so I dictated that we play Shared Escape & Survive in a Large Tavern with a Growing Fire.
The Board - Nancy's Harbor Cafe
I love the special rules that go along with each location. Too often we forget to flip for special rules or we do select one but forget to use it or we remember to flip each turn for the random event and it never takes place. So in this instance I decided that the Growing Fire would be placed after turn 1 and each turn the last player to activate would flip and on a 10+ he could place a fire marker in a new location. If the flip was low then we would just grow the fire on the board. That way something happened every turn and it still had a random element. I imagined the new fires being started by exploding bottles of booze or the enemy crew. I'm glad we did it this way since we flipped each turn and never saw anything better than a nine so the small fire that started at the end of turn 1 would have never grown.
Another thing we did that we usually skip was include doors for each entrance. Before deploying we flipped for each door and odd=open, even=closed, red joker=flipping player's choice, black joker=opponent's choice. To open or close a door is a 1 AP interact. The doors mainly came into play turn 1 since we each had to open them to get into the building. A feature that will be included in all future bar brawls is Spencer's suggestion for including chair bash attacks: +1 Dmg. Sacrifice chair in base contact. I love it!
The Crews
Arcanists
Mei Feng - 8ss
Emberling
Kaeris
Essence of Power
Metal Gamin
Steamborg Executioner
Steal Relic & Exterminate Constructs
Resserrectionists
Dr. McMourning - 3ss
Rafkin
Crooked Man
Punk Zombies x2
Necropunks x3
Breakhrough & Frame for Murder on a Punk Zombie (both unannounced)
Turn 1
I had to set up first and placed everyone at the center of my standard deployment zone. Kevin split his crew and placed the Crooked Man, Rafkin, 1 Punk Zombie & 1 Necropunk across from my crew in the center. The good Dr., the other Punk Zombie and 2 Necropunks set up in the corner on my right. The turn was just positioning as most models moved into the building. Kevin activated last and placed the first fire marker on a table in the lower right corner of the large room.
Sadly I didn't take very many pictures...as usual.
Turn 2
My notes fail me but I think Kevin got the initiative and the Crooked Man dug up 2 Shafted markers advertising Free Soulstones...
The Metal Gamin turned on Hardcase and moved closer to Kaeris. She spread some burning love around and the Essence helped with Accelerant.
The net result of all their interactions was nil.
McMourning and friends moved up the right flank.
Mei makes the choice to try and cut them off and moves off to the right rather than engage the easy targets in the big room. So the Steamborg and Emberling move along the outside wall toward the right corner. Mei Railwalks through the wall and gives them an extra push with Seismic Punch.
Here is how it looked at the end of Turn 2 (I think)
Turn 3
At this point I believe I got initiative and the Metal Gamin put up Hardcase while the Crooked Man moved forward to Blast the Essence...Metal Gamin sucked up the wounds...Kaeris made fireworks and the punk zombie ended up dead and I think Rafkin and the Crooked Man got paralyzed. The Steamborg moved into the room of death and promptly died. Mei & the Emberling followed in afterward and only managed to Scalding breath McMourning.
Turn 4
Here is where it went terribly good and bad for me. I fell victim to a what I could only describe as a Rush of Magic...I don't always look at my cards as I draw them but this time I did...I had discarded my hand so with the Emberling I had 7 cards to draw...first one...9 of Masks...nice! I was trying to hold onto my masks for Mei's triggers but Kaeris can be very card & soulstone intensive when I play her...second card 5 of Masks...then 6 Masks...then mother almighty 13 of Masks! Ok by this point I'm laughing so much I don't think Kevin can tell if I'm happy or distraught with my hand...6th card...7 of MASKS! What are the freakin chances? Last card I drew was the 9 of Crows which also figures nicely into Mei's triggers.
I got initiative. I couldn't believe my luck and my hand plus I had 4ss left...so I go to town and start jumping Mei into bodies, hit the Punk Zombie, push & hit McMourning...Red Joker Severe! He's dead. I bounce back hit the Punk Zombie, kill it and nail a Necropunk. Its getting late and we have to end soon so we decide to play out the rest of the turn and call it. Kaeris only inflicts minimal damage so Rafkin & the Crooked Man still live along with 2 Necropunks.
This is where the Rush of Magic came to bite me in the ass. I killed McMourning before I stole his relic! I wasted time on the Punk Zombie when I should have exterminated the NecroPunks! I didn't pay attention to how close I was to my deployment zone...I only lost 1 model...I had 75% left and they were all on the edge of the border too close to my deployment zone! I only killed 1/2 of Kevin's models and they were all on my half of the table. Kevin wasn't able to get Breakthrough or Frame for Murder but he did score 2 VP for having 50% of his models on my half of the table. I got squat. But damn it was fun. I needed to not let the excitement of a killer hand cloud my judgement and focus on my objectives. Looking forward to our next match!
